God’s Call to Ministry
When we first got married and started dreaming about our life of ministry together, we didn’t really plan on starting a church in Cincinnati. We knew that God had brought us together for a purpose, though, and He called us to church planting with such clarity that we couldn’t ignore it. Our church planting journey started when we received an amazing word from the Lord. Shortly before we were to move to Cincinnati, OH, a powerful woman of God that we had recently been connected to, prayed over us and prophesied that Daron would meet a mighty man of God and become part of a network to spread the Gospel.
Not long after that, we connected with Pastor Rod Parsley, a powerful evangelist for the kingdom of God. He first reached out to us online, and we soon met him in person and instantly developed a relationship. It was through Pastor Rod that the Lord spoke our specific calling. “You’re going to see explosive growth in your church,” Rod said, and we believed him! He invited us to come under the covering of the City Harvest Network (CHN), an interconnected web of churches across the country with one purpose: to share the Gospel message of Jesus.
As we developed our connection with Pastor Parsley and CHN, we received another confirmation of our calling to plant a church. The Associated of Related Churches (ARC) reached out to us and offered to help us with the launch process. We had been in contact with ARC in the past, and their timing couldn’t have been better. Their offer to help fund and train our church planting team came completely out of the blue, and we took it as another sign of God’s calling on our lives.
Now we’re in church planting training, and we’re taking every step by faith! God has continued to open doors at every turn, even providing an incredible building for the new church! A local Christian school bought an empty church building and it became available to us once they heard what we were doing.
So what are we doing? Why are we planting a church in Cincinnati?
At the beginning of this year (2019), God gave us a word to pray over the year ahead: unity. We thought it was a word meant describe our newly blended family, but we’ve come to realize that God has even bigger plans.
Cincinnati is the fifth most segregated city in the country. The city’s motto is “united we aid,” but the community is fractured and divided along racial, socioeconomic, and generational lines. We feel called to help bring unity to Cincinnati through the local church.
That’s why we’re calling the church Vessel United. Our dream is to build a church where people from all walks of life come together and experience the unity of God’s family. We want this church to be a place where people who have felt the brokenness and pain of disunity can be restored and put back together. We want to build a community of people who can tell the world,
“God was able to heal my brokenness. If He can do it for me, He can do it for you.”
At Vessel United, Worship is our Heart, Jesus is our Message, and Loving People is what we do. We want to love people, and we want to love them well! We want them to know that, no matter what they’ve been through, they can still fulfill their purpose from God.
As we work toward our official launch in January 2020, we’ve been holding community worship nights to get to know the people around us. God has blown us away by bringing people through our doors every time! Our Cincinnati neighbors are already asking when they can come to church. They’re hungry and thirsty for more of Jesus, and we’re so excited to share Him with them through Vessel United.
