I’m excited to share a brand new song with you! My new single “Starting Over” by Daron Farmer was written by my dear friend Tre Corley and the words speak to my life experiences and my journey with Jesus, and it’s incredibly close to my heart.
It’s an anthem of hope, a reminder that every time we see an ending, God sees a new beginning.

Today I’d like to share with you why the words of “Starting Over” are so special to me and why I knew I had to record it. I hope my story encourages and inspires you, no matter where you are in your walk with Jesus.
I met my first wife, Ashley, when we were in college. She was a special woman; whenever she walked into a room, she lit it up with her bubbly and outgoing personality. I fell in love with her the very first time I saw her.
“Lord, that’s the kind of girl I want to marry,” I told God, and He took me at my word!
Sure enough, God brought us together, and we got married a year later. I felt like my life was perfect: I’d married the girl of my dreams, I was doing work I loved, and God was turning all our spiritual struggles into victories.
Ethan was born into our family, and Hailey followed a few years later. Ashley and I were overjoyed at God’s favor and faithfulness. We knew we were living a blessed life, and we were excited to have the chance to work in ministry and serve the Lord together.
One day, after sixteen blessed years of marriage, we got a devastating phone call. Ashley was diagnosed with Stage Four inflammatory breast cancer.
The news shook our world. Throughout our ministry journey, we had prayed for and with others who struggled with physical disease, but for the first time, we needed to have faith that God would move a mountain for us and heal Ashley.
We had to trust Him in a way we’d never done before.
Suddenly it felt like our roles were reversed. I was the pastor, the teacher in our home, but Ashley began to teach me so much about faith. She was determined to trust God and give Him the glory, no matter what happened.
As we walked through the struggles of cancer together, Ashley reminded me that it didn’t matter how the fight ended. As God’s children, we win, no matter what. There’s no fear in death for us. So we gave her cancer to God and trusted Him with the outcome.
Before long, the cancer spread from her breast to her lungs. The doctors agreed that they couldn’t do anything more for Ashley.
Even as my beautiful, strong wife started to slip away, I saw so much of the Father’s love flowing through her. Her faith in His goodness was unshakable up to the very moment she passed from this earth into the gates of heaven.
After Ashley passed away, I went through a season of depression. It was a struggle to get up every day, but I knew that she would want me to keep living for our two small children and keep winning souls, so I stayed in the ministry and did my best to be a good father to our children and love people like she had.
It was hard to trust God’s new beginning. I was briefly married again, but it ended in heartbreak and divorce.
I wasn’t sure what God was doing, until the day I was introduced to an amazing young woman. The more I got to know her, the better I could see that God was using her powerfully for His kingdom.
As time went on, Brooke and I grew closer, becoming prayer warriors, worship partners, and best friends. She became the mother of my children and a companion that I could do life with. Click here to read our love story.
God’s restoration never ceases to amaze me. Through the trials in my life, I’ve learned that unshakable faith gives God the opportunity to work supernatural miracles. That’s why when I first heard the words to “Starting Over” I knew I had to record it.
I believe “Starting Over” is a song about the way God has worked in my past, and how He’s working for my future. It’s about finding hope and living in faith, trusting that He will make a way.
Leaving the past behind and starting over is never easy. I know that better than anyone. But I hope this song encourages you to put your trust in Jesus for each new day. He can restore you, He can redeem you, and He can help you start over.
